issued
on June 14th 1998 to Peter
Campman for
pride of ownership of the
1948
Streamliner Station Wagon
as
identified below :

I'll tell you about tracking down this Pontiac:
The picture above was taken in 1988 at the Nat'l Woodie
Club annual meet known as "Wavecrest". Because the show outgrew the parking
lot with about 200 wagons, 1988 was the last year the show was held in
Oceanside CA. It is now held further south in Encinitas at Moonlight
Beach about a hundred miles from my home. It has been drawing around 250
Station Wagons and parking is again getting hard to find. This was the
first Pontiac Wagon I had ever seen except for my new "project" I had just
brought home from the desert.
Needless to say I will probably always remember
when Peter's cousin, John Lamb cruised by the show. He did not enter but
because he lived nearby he just had to make an appearance and stop by with
his surfboards in tow.
The next time I saw the car was at a local 50's
cruise night near my house. Peter and guests stopped in and were at the
drive-up window ordering burgers and fries. They were on their way
to a Dodger game at Dodger Stadium. We talked long enough for Peter to
let me know that the woodie was staying at his machine shop in Paramount.
I did not get the address but last year I was driving about three miles
away from my home and sure enough there it was sitting in front of his
shop.
Last week I stopped in and ask Peter to pop the
hood and get the I.D. plate info. I scanned the pictures I had taken
years ago and here are the results.
About this Pontiac:
The story goes that this wagon was a grounds car at
West Point. There were initials carved by cadets in the original roof.
Peter and his cousin John owned the car together and had it restored.
A man was supposed to fly in from San Francisco on Thursday to maybe buy
the car. I hope to stay posted on how that turns out. The car is in great
shape. It has a Hydramatic transmission. And it is painted a Dark Blue.
Since I have no Email address I can only give the
information from Peters business card:
Classic Tool & Die Inc.
Peter Campman - Vice President
8112 E. Rosecrans Ave.
Paramount, CA 90723
(562) 531-2980
I just had to show one more
picture of that very memorable day.
