Donald tells us about his Pontiac:
     Don,
I have a 1947 Torpedo, 2 door, 6 cyl, original blue paint, (roof about down to the primer!) 33,500 original mileage, upholstery and rear carpet excellent, no holes or tears in the headliner, driver side cloth is worn behind the door handle, front rubber mat is very bad, vacuum wiper motor is out, needs rebuilt,  had the push button radio working, but now needs a vibrator tube. Dash clock not running. Has stainless steel exhaust and tail pipes, new battery, ww tires have been replaced, has a brand new spare tire, no rust in or on the body, chrome is excellent, the front and rear bumpers each have one section that need straightened.  Has under hood trouble and trunk lights, back up light. Glass all good, very little clouding on the edges of the window wings, right door glass has small crack in the corner by the door lock button. Have fender skirts, I believe from a Chevrolet that fit, they are fair condition. All hub caps and beauty rings. Outside driver's side mirror. Paint inside the trunk is like brand new.
I believe that I am the third owner, the man I bought it from 10 years ago had it for 17 yrs. and only put 275 miles on it. He was in the auto repair business and antique dealer, he bought the car along with antiques from a widow. He kept the car stored most of the time. I drove the car from eastern PA to western PA, about 360 miles, it had 28,800 miles then. I had a yellow
Streamliner for 3 years in the early 50's when I was in my 20's, that is the main reason I bought this car! I have taken it to a lot of shows and have won a few trophies. I am now interested in selling this car, could you give me an appraisal?
I looked at most of your site. You are doing a great service for Pontiac owners. Couldn't believe all the info you have collected. The mystery hood ornament might be an after market accessory. Remember the Buick ornaments, the chrome circle with a rocket shape piece in the center? They sold small versions of those, I had one on my bicycle. Some people used
to put them on the top of the front fenders.

    Thanks,
Glad you enjoyed the site. It really has grown. I hope it continues to grow so we all can learn more about our cars. Don sent some really nice pictures including a very old one of his 47 Streamliner from the early '50's. I will put that one in the Photo album as soon as my scanner get working again!
