Hey gang,
This is our first U.S. made Metropolitan model to to registered. I realize that I have had some contacts with other Metropolitan owners but unless some files got lost somewhere, Gary is the first owner to send all of the info and photos. So now we have pictures of all models except the Business and Sport Coupes.  Still waiting to get any of those models registered.
The ad for this car has been on the classified page for some time now, and I am glad to finally get this page online. Gary seems to be a big fan of GM cars. He especially likes Buicks and bought this Pontiac because it is the same age as he is. He is also selling a '65 Cadillac Convertible. He has sent me a story of a '49 Pontiac (reprinted below) and it sounds like he has a few more "tales" to send also.
Thanks for your patience and good luck with all of your GM cars. It is easy to see that you are enjoying them all very much!

Gary tells us about one of his previous Pontiacs
First of all I found your site by simply typing 1942 Pontiac. I did this the same night I pulled my newly aquired 42 Pont. off the trailer after buying her.  I must admitt to you however that I am mainly a Buick man having an almost completed 59 Buick LeSabre convertible that I've have owned since 1960 (another story).  I do love all GM cars though and my first car was a 49 Pontiac 4dr. fastback or streamliner or whatever.  I did have the distinction of having the only 1949 Pontiac4dr. convertible in the world thanks to a hammer, a chisel and a hacksaw.
When I opened the garage door to show my father what a cool car it had turned into, the vibration of the garage door must have been a certain frequency but the minute my dear ol' dad gazed upon my car, both back doors fell off the car.  I didnt realize the rocker panels were so rusted and could not support the weight after cutting through the centerposts.  That happened in 1958.
Anyway It might be a few days before I can send you some decent photos of the 42 cause it's raining here in Michigan and is forcast to do so for a few days and I need to charge the batteries in my digital camera.  However here are my plate numbers and any info you can give me prior to me getting my pictures to you would be appreciated.  I did learn (from your site) the difference between a torpedo and streamliner but would like to know when it was made and where. The glass is marked 10-41.  I suppose the main reason I just had to have this car is it's as old as me. Or I'm as old as it.

By the way I am a bit unfamiliar with the dating on the glass. ( I do vaguely remember looking at a stamp on a window once upon a time) Can anyone tell us more about the dating system that was used? If this is a reliable method of determining age then maybe we should start tracking this info for the registry. Any thoughts on that?
                                                                                    Thanks again- Don
