Dear Sir,
I am Vice President of the Klasik Otomobil Kulübü, Turkey which is the only classic car club in Turkey. We currently have over 200 members and the total of the cars exceed 650, most being american cars.
I am currently restoring a 1948 4 door Pontiac Silverstreak (8 cylinder). So far I have been lucky to find mechanical parts for my car due to long history of American cars in Turkey.  Parts such as wheather strips, decals, accesories are hard to get, the only parts one can find are for popular cars such as Mustangs.
So far I have finished the bodywork, front and rear suspension, brakes, engine, gearbox, shaft and differential. At the moment the car is being  primed and getting ready for the paint.
It will be very kind of you if you could furnish me with name of sources that supply parts for Pontiacs. I am also interested in finding the original colour of the car, the plate states that the paint code is 18, todays catalogues do not cover this number. The name of the company who would be able to sort this out would be great help to me.
Many thanks in advance, if you are interested to know more about Turkey or our club, please do not hesitate to contact me.

I was glad to be able to help you identify your original paint scheme. - Don

History of this far away and unusual Pontiac:
A lady owner imported the car to Turkey in 1949. The original color that was stated on the customs document was Gold metallic (lower) and black (upper). The car still has the same registration plate since new, showing that it has never went out of Istanbul.  The plate on the firewall states that the car was bought from Europe. The plate shows the following.
GENERAL MOTORS (France)
56 a 60, Avenue Louis-Roche-Gennevilliers (Seine)
Marque: PONT?AC
TYPE: 28
CHASSIS No: P8PB 51878
MOTEUR No: P8PB 51878
N. DE CYLINDRES ALESAGE ET COURSE:    8      82.55 X 95.25
POIDS TOTAL MAXI EN CHARGE:   2190 KG
The original colour of gold metallic / black combination was confirmed in two ways. First of all the customs document dating from 1949 states that the car had that combination. The colour scheme also revealed itself in various hidden places during restoration.
The colour code on the car stated a number 18 and thanks to your help, I managed to find out that it meant 4818. This colour scheme is Oyster Gray upper with Blue Lake Blue Metallic lower produced by the company Dupont, Duco. After extensive search I managed to get hold of 1955 original catalogue of Duco and decided on a nice blue metallic colour for a GM car. Oyster gray was not difficult to find at all.
So far the paint job is finished, as well as the restoration of the chassis, brakes, engine, gearbox, differential and drive shaft. Now it is time to put it all back together.
I will appreciate any help regarding finding suppliers for accessories, weather strips, lights, interior, etc. I have found a company called KANTER ( 800-526-1096 or 973-334-9575, 76 Monroe street, Boonton, NJ 07005 USA). This company claims that they have parts for cars from 1930 to 1986. Is this a good company to get parts from ?

        Saydun,
Kanter has a good reputation and they are now linked to my site. Good luck with putting your car back together. Feel free to contact any of us with questions. You are the first owner to register from outside the North American Continent.  Send us a picture of your car and I would also like to see one of that firewall plate.
                                                                                Welcome aboard!     - Don
