Reid belongs to the Great Salt Lakes Chapter of POCI
and he is also the POCI Technical Advisor
for 1954 Pontiacs.
Reid tells us about his 48 Pontiac:
I don't know the history of the cars first 40 years except that it went 39,000 (obviously correct) miles. I have added 36,000 miles in ten years. I had a very enjoyable trip (flawless) last year from Utah to Sturbridge, MA and won 2nd place in my class. Achieved 20 mpg more than once. Cruised at 70 mph. I have added Deluxe fender trim and wheel covers. Also correct grille
guard and Guide fog lights. Original equipment includes, Deluxe steering wheel, Deluxe radio and heater, under hood, glove box and trunk lights.
I applaud your effort! Keep it up. Maybe I'll get a computer some time.

I too hope you can get a computer to see your webpage!  I plan on being here for the long haul, I just wish I had more time to get it all done.
I have spoken with Reid on the phone when he lived in Claremont which I used to pass when I skiied the local mountians. I did see his car at the POCI National Meet in Irvine, CA back a few years ago. A real nice one for sure and I hear from John Gunnell that it is quite a runner too! John wrote about a road trip he had in the 48 on the winding mountain roads near Mt. Baldy ski resort. Sounds like it was fun. John has emailed to say that he will be writing about Reid's car (2nd time) in the next issue of "Old Cars Weekly" where he is the editor. Maybe you can read about their good times in the June 22nd 2000 issue of OCW.
John also promised he would mention the site again which served to get me motivated to write this page finally.
We may pick up a few more new members with that mention, just as we did the last time!  I also hope to get the photos and pictures of John's 48 someday. (Hint, hint, nudge, nudge!)

Thanks to Reid for providing this example and John for helping to promote these fine cars,
             -Don
